A Matter of Presentation
How well we come across to others, whether it be in personal relationships or in business, is not necessarily about what we say or how much we know, but more often it's simply a matter of presentation.Let me use a couple of videos to demonstrate. Here are two presentations of the exact same song — one by a teen trio from Italy that came to the attention of public eye just within the last couple of years. The other is a performance of the same exact song by a woman apparently recording in her own living room. Which video are you more likely to watch. If both recordings were on the store shelves, which would you buy? Which would you tell your friends about and encourage them to watch?
How are you coming across to others? How are you presenting yourself in one-on-one conversations, in your business presentations, in groups or organizations?
Most of us never deal with anything as challenging as what these individuals and many others have faced. Most of the time the way we come across to others is a simply a matter of how we see ourselves, which in turn has a direct effect on how others see us.
As an entrepreneur or business owner, how you see yourself and your business directly affects your level of success.
If you perceive yourself as already successful, even if in reality you're struggling just to keep your head above water, then others are going to see you as someone with whom they want to do business. If there's even a hint of concern about your self esteem or current circumstances coming through when talking to others or presenting your service or product or making posts on Facebook or writing your blog or . . . . .. . . guess what! You've blown it!
Il Volo has become a worldwide phenomenon. Even as teenagers, they come across as extremely mature, extremely confident, extremely talented adults. I have no idea how confident each of these young men are in their private lives or what self-esteem issues they may be dealing with individually, if any; but they certainly convey total confidence on stage, and the fans have thronged to them. Much of it is natural talent, but much of it is also the training to which they have committed time and energy and the people with whom they aligned themselves.
The same holds true if you're in business for yourself. Attraction is key!
Attraction is the operative word here. No matter how hard you try to sell yourself or your product/service, if people aren't attracted to you — if they don't like and trust you — then all the effort and sales techniques in the world won't get you a nickel. It's important that you find your natural gifts and talents, focus on those, have confidence in them, develop them through building relationships with those who can help you, and commit yourself to mentoring and training that will teach you how best to present yourself and your business in the best way possible. It's simply a matter of presentation as to whether you attract business or drive it away.
Here's to a life of gratitude, success, happiness and prosperity ~
